My Approach
Philosophy
At the core of my work is a belief in radical self-acceptance and liberation from oppressive beauty and body standards. I approach fashion and body image through the lens of empowerment, rejecting the narratives that tell us our worth is tied to how we look. By uncovering the systemic roots of diet culture—grounded in racism, colonialism, and patriarchal ideals—we can dismantle the beliefs that keep us stuck in cycles of self-doubt and shame. I believe that healing comes from reconnecting with ourselves, embracing our inherent worth, and stepping into the world as our authentic selves.
Framework
My framework is rooted in a trauma-informed, intersectional approach that incorporates:
- Internal Family Systems (IFS): I use this evidence-based model to help clients explore the parts of themselves that have internalized harmful narratives, creating space for self-compassion and authentic change.
- Fashion as Embodiment: I guide clients to use clothing as a tool for self-expression and empowerment, helping them reconnect with their bodies and personal identities.
- Education and Advocacy: Together, we explore the societal structures that shape body image, including systemic racism, colonial values, and the influence of Western beauty standards. This understanding allows us to challenge and reject those systems.
- Body Image Workshops: As a licensed facilitator, I create spaces where individuals can safely explore and redefine their relationships with their bodies and self-worth.
My Ideal Client
My ideal client is someone who feels disconnected from their body, whether due to years of dieting, internalized shame, or societal pressures. They are ready to move beyond quick fixes and are seeking a deeper, more sustainable transformation. This person values self-exploration and is open to challenging the systems and beliefs that have shaped their relationship with their body.
Whether you’re recovering from an eating disorder, struggling with self-worth, or feeling out of alignment with your true self, you are not alone. My clients often describe feeling like they’ve spent years ignoring or trying to change their bodies, and they’re now ready to embrace a new narrative—one where they can show up authentically, unapologetically, and confidently.
Why Work With Me?
I bring a unique blend of personal experience, professional expertise, and compassion to my work. Having navigated my own journey of healing from body shame and disconnection, I understand the complexities and challenges of this process. My background in fashion, combined with my training in Internal Family Systems and body image facilitation, allows me to offer a holistic, multifaceted approach.
When you work with me, you’re not just signing up for support. You are stepping into a partnership where your voice, experiences, and goals are at the centre. Together, we will:
- Challenge and unlearn the harmful beliefs that have kept you feeling small.
- Use fashion as a tool to reclaim your power and self-expression.
- Build a compassionate relationship with your body.
- Gain the knowledge and confidence to navigate a world that often tells us we are not enough.
This journey is about more than just changing how you see yourself—it’s about creating a life where you feel free, aligned, and ready to share your unique gifts with the world.
Combined with my many years of experience and education in the fashion industry, my licence from The Body Positive Institute allows me to be highly effective, because I am listening deeply to my own intuitive wisdom about how to help you live with more joy and confidence in your body.
The Be Body Positive Model has been used for both the prevention and treatment of eating disorders, with people all along the spectrum of eating and body image issues. This model is also beneficial for people who don’t have defined struggles, but wish to experience more joy in their relationships with their bodies and lives.
It is critical in this work that I acknowledge the fact that my gender identification, ethnicity, social class, age, ability, religion, sexual orientation, and geographic location gives me specific body and life experiences that may be different from what you encounter. It is important to remain aware that none of us knows what is “right” for anyone other than ourselves.
I invite you to consider working with me if you identify with any of the following statements:
